The Chinese Sommelier Competition – 2017 edition.

This year, the Fairmont Peace Hotel in Shanghai held the 9th edition of the Chinese Sommelier Competition.

This competition brings 10 very talented sommeliers from across China to compete for the title of Best Chinese Sommelier 2017. The 10 participants were carefully selected through regional finals. The winner will be awarded the distinguished prize of visiting the Roussillon vineyard in 2018.

Who will be the star of Chinese sommeliers in 2017 among these 10 candidates?

Arneis WU (L’ATELIER de Joël Robuchon – Shanghai); Jasper SUNYulia ZHULewin SUN (Shangri-La Jingan – Shanghai); King WANGFrank WANG (The House of Roosevelt – Shanghai Bund 27); Darren WANG (Bulgari Hotel – Beijing); Feifei LIU (The Temple House – Chengdu); Felix ZHANG (Hakkasan Restaurant – Shanghai), Sol YANG (INIECHO – Chengdu).

This year’s edition saw Arneis WU, from L’ATELIER de Joël Robuchon in Shanghai, win the title of best Chinese Sommelier 2017.

Jasper SUN, from Shangri-La Jingan in Shanghai, and King WANG, from The House of Roosevelt Bund 27, won second and third place respectively. However, this year Jasper Sung will have the privilege of visiting Roussillon vineyards.

Second stop Ningxia, the future of wine in China, with the 6th Young Chinese Sommeliers competition by team.

This famous competition, initiated in 2011, identifies the future talents among young Chinese sommeliers. This competition rewards a team rather than individuals. This unique characteristic teaches young sommeliers about team spirit – an important trait for sommeliers to learn at a young age. This competition is organized by the Asia Wine Institute – the same organ that organizes the aforementioned main competition in Shanghai. 20 teams of 4 members (trained by a senior coach) were selected through 6 regional finals, which took place at the beginning of August in Beijing, Qingdao, Chengdu, Ningbo, Shanghai and Guangzhou.

The winning team of 2017, along with their manager, will also be invited to travel to the Roussillon vineyard, and we’re sure that they will come back home with the same enthusiasm and unforgettable experience as last years’ winners.

Lets look at this year’s 10 teams:

Shangri-la Qingdao, China World Summit Wing Hotel Beijing, Shangri-La Shanghai, Morton’s Shanghai, L’ATELIER de Joël Robuchon Shanghai, Shangri-la Ningbo, Grand Hyatt Guangzhou, The Temple House Chengdu, Waldorf Chengdu and Jinjiang Hotel Chengdu.

This year’s winner was Morton’s Steakhouse ShanghaiIrene HANDaisy DINGSteven Zhang and their team mentor Thomas Wang. Second place went to the Grand Hyatt Guangzhou and third place to L’ATELIER de Joël Robuchon Shanghaï.

These 2 finals are an outcome of Roussillon wines’ unwavering and longstanding support for these 2 competitions, ranging from their preparations to candidate-selections.

Eric Aracil, Export Manager of Roussillon Wines Council, traveled to China to be the judge of these 2 finals for the 3rd consecutive year.

2017中国侍酒师大赛完满落幕

今年,第九届中国最佳侍酒师大赛在上海和平饭店举行。

今年,来自全国各地的10位才华横溢的侍酒师将共同竞逐2017中国最佳侍酒师的称誉。10强选手分别为全国各分区赛脱颖而出的冠军。而本次大赛的得奖冠军将获得露喜龙产区支持的2018产区游奖励。

来自上海静安香格里拉大酒店的孙昕Jasper和上海外滩27号罗斯福公馆的王逢源King分别荣获了本次比赛的亚军和季军。而今年我们的产区游名额特别颁发给了亚军得主来自上海静安香格里拉大酒店的孙昕Jasper。

第二站 宁夏,作为中国葡萄酒发展的未来,第六届中国青年侍酒师团队赛决赛在此举行

中国青年侍酒师大赛以为培育中国下一代青年侍酒师为目标,于2011年创立至今,成绩斐然。大赛更重视团队的合作发展大于个人。这个独特的理念引导着青年侍酒师从年轻时培养团队合作的精神。大赛由亚洲侍酒师学院创立——同时也是在上海举办的中国最佳侍酒师大赛的创始者。20个参赛队伍,每组由4名侍酒师组成,其中一位为导师,由8月起的全国北京、青岛、成都、宁波、上海以及广州等6个分赛区选拔而出。

2017年的团队赛冠军得主将获得2018露喜龙产区游的奖励,我们相信他们将从本次的旅行中满载而归。

今年的团队赛冠军领队由上海莫尔顿队获得。当团队成员分别是导师Tansy赵怀强, Steven张玉龙,Irene韩艳霞,Daisy丁红善。而来自广州的富力君悦酒店和上海的L’ATELIER de Joël Robuchon分别获得了亚季军。

两场大赛的成功举行都离不开露喜龙产区长期坚定的支持。产区协会由分区赛开始到决赛一直负责比赛的评委。
